Physical Appearance
What is most noticeable about this ancient dog is its massive size and its series of wrinkles and folds on his head. Its wide and flat head looks large in comparison to the rest of his body. Its deep-set eyes are almost covered by upper lids that droop over them. Their short, dense coat comes in gray, blue, black, chocolate, mahogany and tawny. Neapolitan Mastiffs may grow anywhere from 120 to 200 pounds, and will grow from 2 feet to 2 feet and 7 inches.
Personality
Although their appearance is a bit on the intimidating side, they are actually affectionate, calm, peaceful and loving. This breed is generally quiet and usually only bark when it is absolutely necessary. They are generally very loving with children. While puppies are active, but when they get older they prefer lounging around the home or yard. Neapolitan Mastiffs have a reputation for being a 200 pound lap dog. As they can be on the lazy side, make sure that they get enough exercise so that they do not become overweight.
